Services & About

What we build,
and who builds it.

One shop. One maker. Every piece designed, fabricated, and installed under the same roof — no subcontractors, no handoffs, no excuses.

Capabilities

Custom metal, end to end.

01

Custom Sheet Metal

Range hoods, wall cladding, panels, surrounds, and bespoke fixtures cut and formed to spec. Brass, copper, blackened steel, raw steel, and custom patina finishes — formed by hand, built to be touched.

02

Architectural Fabrication

Staircases, railings, structural feature steel, gates, and entry elements. Engineered to code and drawings, designed to be the first thing anyone notices when they walk in.

03

Design & Build

Concept to install. We take a sketch, a reference photo, or a rough idea and turn it into shop drawings, a finished piece, and a clean installation — all in-house.

04

Commercial Fabrication

Restaurants, retail, and offices that want metalwork with intent — counters, facades, signage, and feature elements that hold up to traffic and still look the part.

How We Work

From conversation to installation.

01

Consult & Concept

We start with your space, your references, and your budget. You'll talk directly to the person building the piece — not a salesperson.

02

Design & Shop Drawings

We translate the idea into precise drawings — materials, finish, dimensions, and engineering — so there are no surprises before a single cut is made.

03

Fabrication

Cut, formed, welded, and finished by hand in our Alaska shop. Every weld and edge gets the same attention whether it shows or not.

04

Install

We deliver and install it ourselves, protect your space while we work, and leave the site clean. The piece is right when we say it's done.

The Maker

Built by one set of hands.

Northwood Welding & Fabrication is the work of a single craftsman who'd rather build a hundred pieces right than a thousand pieces fast.

After years on commercial and residential fabrication floors across Alaska, Northwood was founded on a simple idea: the person who designs the piece should be the one who welds it and the one who installs it. That's how you get metalwork that fits the drawing, suits the room, and lasts longer than the house around it.

We take a limited number of projects at a time. If we take yours, it gets our full attention.

Why Northwood

What you get that a fab shop won't give you.

Design in the Price

We don't just build to print. We make the design better — proportion, detail, and finish — at no extra layer of cost or middlemen.

One Point of Contact

You talk to the maker, start to finish. Nothing gets lost in translation between a designer, a shop, and an installer.

Built for the North

Finishes and engineering chosen for Alaskan homes and climate — pieces meant to outlast trends and weather alike.
